Good thing this is a blog or else you would hear my ear piercing scream of excitement! This blog has been a LONG time coming, and I am so incredibly overjoyed to be sharing this with you all. This website is the next chapter in my blogging career, as well as my life and I am so ready to share this journey. This website has been a dream of mine for quite some time and I decided that this year I would make it a GOAL. Initially, I wanted my website to focus on just outer beauty, such as makeup, skincare, nails, etc; but in 2017 my mental health went downhill fast and I realized that after a triggering event I could no longer be in denial about all the events that I was trying so hard to suppress (we will talk about this in another blog post). After taking some time to try and get myself back on track, I knew without a doubt that I wanted my blog to encompass inner and outer beauty.
The dream to start my website came to me way back in 2015 but I allowed fear, perfectionism, and comparison, to delay that dream. I wanted my site to be perfect (I still do today) and wanted to feel ready but the truth is I will never be ready, the key is pushing through that fear. It’s all about getting out of that comfort zone, right!? I want to truly inspire my readers with this platform and I hope to bring awareness to mental health in order to #endthestigma.
My topics will include Beauty, Family, Life/Inspiration.
Like I mentioned before, when the thought of starting a blog first came to me I wanted to share my love and passion for beauty. I am a recent graduate of Cosmetology school and I love to “beat” my face any and every chance I get. But I like to think I am a skincare guru before makeup. I religiously give myself facials, lather in all the right oils, vitamin C is a brown girl’s best friend and oh I wear sunscreen even in the WINTER! So it is only natural that I share my tips and tricks with my readers. I also believe that When You Look Good You Feel Good!
Another topic that also comes naturally. I am a mother before all, I can’t help it. Maybe because I am the mother to the most awesome little boy ever ( I swear I am not biased). I also have the most supportive boyfriend and family ever. My family keeps me going and they motivate me every day. Just like any family, we have experienced ups and downs but there is no doubt when it comes to having each other’s backs. Any time I need support they are there.
With this category, I decided to be brave, as my therapist would call me, and talk about topics that people usually shy away from. Mental Freaking Health! This is something I have struggled with since I was 11 and after watching a show that caused me to have a mental breakdown (as stated before we will talk about this in another blog post.), denial was no longer an option. Everything I do, and everything related to my growth relates to working towards healing my inner “beauty.” I hope that we can grow, inspire and heal together, and I hope that this becomes a safe space for any and everyone to share their journey.
Well there you have it and I am so honored to have you join me on this journey. I look forward to connecting with you all each week!
