Never in a million years did I think that I would be #1in4 . 1 in 4 women experience a miscarriage and yet it is still a taboo topic.

Earlier this month Dylan & I had a miscarriage. We longed for that little one, and when it happened we were in a state of bliss. Not a day goes by where I don't think about how far along I would be in my pregnancy. We would have heard the baby's heartbeat by now, possibly would have known the gender, and we would have told Tristen by now that he was going to finally be a big brother. Our angel baby was to be born on February 14th, 2021.

I want to share my story to let others know that they are NOT alone. Miscarriage is death, and it brings all the same stages of agonizing grief that comes with losing a loved one. Why do we feel like we have to hide our pregnancies as if they are loved/celebrated less if they don't survive? Why do we mourn the loss of a child in secret? Are we supposed to pretend the life lost never existed? Why? Because it is not polite conversation?! I cannot heal pretending that I lost nothing after losing someone that meant the world to me. What has helped me the most is reading others' stories and talking with other women that have experienced this. Grief is so weird and my emotions are all over the place, but reading and listening to their stories validate my feelings and they give me hope for the future. Talking with my therapist has also helped and she was kind enough to send me a heart-shaped rose quartz crystal to help with healing after loss and a handwritten note. Remember there is NO shame in asking for help. There is no shame for talking about the loss of your baby. Heal how you need to heal and take as much time as you need to do that.

We had Tristen young but you accepted your role immediately and you never looked back, we faced every challenge together and we still do.
